Dotted Line Theatre & Polyglot Arts present

A quirky and original theatre show for family audiences with puppetry, visual art and live Brazilian music

Stories on a String tells tale of Jacina, a city girl who must leave her phone-fuelled life to travel into the Amazon jungle on a quest for her grandma. But there’s no WiFi in the rain forest, so Jacina must learn to use her eyes, her ears and her heart as the creatures of the jungle reveal to her a new path and a way back home…

Our show is inspired by Literatura de Cordel, a style of poetry from Northeastern Brazil recited with music and sold as an illustrated booklet on a string. The show explores the impact of social media on our family relationships, as well as touching on issues affecting indigenous communities in the Amazon, such as deforestation. Stories on a String premiered in London's Little Angel Theatre, and headed across the UK on tour in 2018, with accompanying educational workshops.
